Just a quick note to tell you what a wonderful experience I had at Sar-El. Accommodations aside – loved the cockroaches, by the way, nice touch – the time there was incredibly meaningful and fun! We ended up with a TERRIFIC group; we worked so well together and really accomplished a lot. I don’t know if you heard, but we ended up making 8,000 kit bags for soldiers!!! Apparently at this base they’ve never seen a group work so hard or be so productive. I’m very proud to have been a part of it. Of course, there is a very bittersweet side to it. I was on the verge of tears every time I looked at the mountain of duffel bags we created, thinking how sad it is that so many boys (children, really) must be sent out to risk their lives. And I couldn’t help wondering how many of those boys would not return. Anyway, let’s keep this positive! Thanks very much for coordinating my trip and arranging for me to join for a week. I can’t wait until my next stint!
