Sar-El Newsletter

Issue No. 48

February/March,  2010

Dear Friends,

First of all I would like to thank all of our volunteers, those that have come to Sar-El for the first time, and those who are returning veterans.

In the name of the Sar-El Board of Directors and its Chairman I would also like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the 4,000 volunteers from around the world who participated in Sar-El during 2009, some who came on their own, and others who arrived as part of a group.

This number of volunteers gives the Israel Defense Force a work force equivalent to 5,000 volunteers, since many Sar-El participants remain for two or three weekly programs.

This is a huge contribution to the Israeli Army which received your help with love and appreciation. All of the army forces have repeatedly stated and given recognition to the fact that it is the help provided by volunteers that enabled the IDF to return to fighting fitness so quickly after the Cast Lead Operation in Gaza.

In addition, by volunteering with Sar-El you are showing your solidarity and support not only for the army, but to the State of Israel and its people.

I frequently visit our bases and meet with volunteers while they are in the field and listen to their opinions, feedback and criticism. I do this in order to have direct contact with our volunteers and to correct any problems that may arise during their tour of duty.

Please feel free to contact me with any problems you may have, either during your stay on the bases, or after your volunteer stint is over.

Once again, thanks to all of you for helping to make 2009 a blessed and successful volunteering year. We look forward to seeing all of you again and to welcoming all new recruits.

Happy Passover to all.

Yours,

Israel Geva
