Meet the Singing Sar-Elnik
By Sylvia Scorsham (Edited by Stacey Miller) I made the decision to take my Ukulele with me on the Sar-El Dec. tour, and we re-worded 'Its been a hard day's night' (Beatles) for our Madrichot Eli and Hilla. They were delighted with our choir performance. It's the first time I have been on Sar-El in the winter, and this time was really special. I was sent to a base near Mount Maron - we could see Tsfat on the hillside opposite. It was cold but beautiful, surrounded by pine forests, and the group was also special, a really nice crowd. We had a lot of fun. We all got on so well, that it was hard to leave. We were taken on a wonderful day trip to Tsfat, the Golan Winery, and the Hula valley nature reserve. The best part was being alongside the soldiers, who have a hard and difficult job - they were so friendly and appreciative, and I remember one cold sunny day when we all sang every song we could think of, and the 'regular' in charge came round and put liquorice in our mouths while we worked. Very special.
