Frequently Sar-El volunteers ask the staff
if they have any books to recommend on Israeli history, history of the
Jewish people, the Middle East, or the Israeli army. Below is a list
of several books that may be of interest to Sar-El participants.

Sar-El
participant writes to author Zipporah Porath,
Dear Zippy:
Recently I served as a volunteer for Sar-El and was privileged to
hear you speak. I purchased your book (Letters
from Jerusalem) and have just finished reading it.
What a marvelous account of the birth of
Israel. I enjoyed
every one of your letters. You are an inspiration and I wish all
young people, including those in Israel, could read your book.
I
had an opportunity to chat with some of the young people in the
army and they should be encouraged to read the book...and not be
complacent about
Israel's future. Thank
you so much for your efforts in helping to make a Jewish State
possible.
Fondly,
Cissy Rosen
