Fun Day at Sar-El
On July 14th, 2005 Sar-El held a "Fun Day" at Hamat Gader with the participation of 600 Sar-El volunteers. During August we will have a similar event for those volunteers serving with us at that time. Details concerning the exact place and date of this occasion will be forthcoming. These fun events are being held his year instead of our usual annual celebration in Jerusalem.
During July's "Fun Day" Sar-El volunteers traveled by bus from their bases to Hamat Gader from the north, south and center of Israel. They enjoyed a daylong outing during which they soaked in the hot springs, enjoyed the spa, viewed the antiquities and the alligator farm, and had a chance to relax. The volunteers were delighted to meet up with each other, and they hailed from a wide variety of countries and ranged in age from 17 to 80. Languages varied from French to English, Flemish to Czechoslovakian, Spanish and others.
The volunteers enjoyed a delicious lunch at the site that had been specially prepared by the local restaurant owners. After a brief rest, the volunteers gathered to be welcomed and hear a talk by Sar-El Chairman General Davidi and Sar-El Commander Major Tiran. They thanked the volunteers in Russian, French and English.
The pinnacle of the day's events occurred when the group burst spontaneously into song and dance with the appearance of the Israeli Army band MAZI. Their joy was unique and a sight to behold.
At sundown, all the volunteers returned either to their bases, or to the location where they intended to spend the weekend.
Many thanks to the Sar-El Chairman, his officers, the "madrichot" and to all of the Sar-El staff on their organizational efforts. Their hard work ensured that all of the volunteers had a fantastic day.
To all of our volunteers - please come again, and we hope you have a happy summer vacation.
