Dear Friends, As our summer season draws to a close hundreds of volunteers have been busy helping us out on the various army bases throughout the country: from the far north, and throughout central Israel, all the way down to Eilat.
There were 2,400 overseas and local volunteers that participated in this year's annual Sar-El convention, which was held in the Binyanei Hauma Convention Center in Jerusalem at the beginning of August. It was an exciting event during which high-ranking members of the Israel Defense Forced recognized and thanked both the local Sar-El volunteers as well as those who came from around the world to help us.
The various speakers at the convention pointed out that in total there had been 6,000 Sar-El volunteers during the past year. They said the volunteers had made an enormous contribution to the army during the past year, and thanked them for donating their time and efforts.
On a personal note, I would like to convey to all of our volunteers who come from abroad my thanks and great appreciation for the huge effort you make to come to Israel and invest your time in helping us at Sar-El.
I would also like to express my thanks to the various organizations and Sar-El representatives around the world who do so much to help us carry out our activities.
At this time, we are publishing our program schedule for the coming year. Please prepare ahead of time. We are always pleased to see our "veteran" volunteers continuing to return again and again, there are also many new volunteers coming to join them.
On behalf of General Davidi, the management of Sar-El and from myself, I wish you and your families a Happy New Year: a year of health, prosperity, happiness and peace.
Yours,
Israel Geva Executive General Manager
