Sar-El was my Birthday Present

I think back to the wonderful time I  had with Sar-El. It was my birthday present, I could not have wished for anything better. No one could have expected such a warm welcome, the way in which the soldiers were so grateful that we had come, and their kindness. Additionally, our Sar-El group had so much pleasure working and being together.

As I am not used to American English and my English is not as a good as I had hoped it would be, I sometimes had difficulty understanding, but with the group's friendship and our patient madrichot and the responsibility of the work, it was not even a problem. I felt absolutely happy in Israel and in the Army.

The food was so good that I missed it on my weekend off. As I am a rather bad cook, I still miss the army food now that I am at home! But food was not the most important thing of course. I liked working, I liked the evening programs and sharing with colleagues. I also liked going to the little Synagogue which is open day and night. Just sitting there and praying for the safety of our soldiers was comforting.

We were also very touched when the Director of the army base and the General of Sar-El came to speak to us personally. I had a great time and am already looking at the calendar to find a possible date to come again, or send a friend.

Thank you all for offering me this wonderful opportunity that has enabled me to come close to you and share your life and work in the Army.
