Sar-El -- A Stepping Stone to Making AliyahBy Jeremy Stein
I don't believe that any word can express the joy and satisfaction that came from participating in this program. I met many wonderful people from around the world who united to help make life a little better in Israel. I believe that this program is a positive program which deserves better exposure. Yesterday, on my first day back to work since returning from Israel, I happened to mention to one of the people that I work with all of the positive benefits of being in Israel and participating in this program. A customer in the store interrupted me and asked what program I had been on. I proceeded to tell her and it turns out she had volunteered last year at Ramle. She told me the food there was horrible, the beds were uncomfortable, and that the weather was downright miserable. So I asked her if she didn't like it. She said that I had gotten her all wrong, and that it was one of the best experience of her life. That simply goes to show you the impact that this program has on people.
On a more personal note, I had mentioned when I arrived that I was planning on making Aliyah next summer. Since me stay in Israel, I have decided to make Aliyah this summer instead. If not now, then when?
Once again, thank you and the staff at Sar-El for enabling me to participate in such a wonderful and meaningful program. P.S. Tell Elinor that Jeremy from Julis says hello. Thanks.
Sincerely, Jeremy Stein |
