I just
wanted to fill you in on my amazing and awesome experience
with Sar El this past November (2008). Starting on November
16th I was on an army base with madrichot :Liora
Manelis and Gavi Bigio. The Sar El program itself became a
life altering experience for me! As each day progressed, I
felt more connected to Israel; the land, its people and even
the IDF. The creative and hardworking duo (Liora and Gavy)
were an integral part of my transition.
My four
weeks in Israel, three of them working with Sar El, has led
me to a decision I wouldn't have believed possible just a
short while ago. I am currently making arrangements to
return to Israel in April. I have enrolled in an intensive
Ulpan and plan on remaining in Israel for what I call "a
sabbatical from my life in the USA" for up to one year (this
number is not carved in stone). I am hopeful that I will be
able to secure some sort of position using my credentials as
either a teacher of English as a second language or as a
psychologist.
Indeed, I
have begun a journey that started during my volunteer
experience. I plan on continuing to volunteer for Sar El as
my time allows during my stay in Israel.
Once
again, I would like to take this opportunity to commend both
Liora and Gavy. They have a special place in my heart. I
think it is both important and exciting for you to be aware
of the excellent job these two young women are performing.
