Volunteers Report on our Special Project

(Above): Volunteers from our special project group in the Negev,

together with soldiers, officers and Sar-El Commander Tiran Atias (on left).

Our Sar-El special project group of volunteers in the Negev included: Ariella, Beth, Nathan, Francisco, Mark, Stan, Gemma, Yvette, Steve, Michael;  Zoe and Michal were their madrichot.

Stan says:

"Thank you for the exciting and wonderful project in the south! It was an honor that the Sar-El team entrusted us with the work and allowed us to serve in this location. As it was, the whole project appeared to be a great success. We all felt that we were clearly, constructing something to help and support Israel in an area and subject that was needed.

The staff on the bases were wonderful, our two madrichot, Michal and Zoe were brilliant. It was indeed an honor to have been involved. The personal interest and time the divisional staff and their commander gave us was much appreciated. To be honest, I love these construction tasks, especially when we are allowed to work together with army staff. I appreciate that this is not always right or possible, but we all felt the army took a great risk in our team in respect of the work, conduct, trustworthiness and continued 'sensitivity in not giving too much away.

Our Sar-El team was brilliant; Steve, Nathan and Mark were great workers, whilst the girls were equal to any of the boys!!

Steve "The Brit" says:

The desert was so cold that we were issued with vest and long johns to wear under the uniforms. We stayed at a place and drove in a rickety bus for an hour to the Egyptian border where we have been constructing a razor wire fence to help defend the Israeli border. Hard work, but great. I loved it, we all did. we were guarded by a mixture of soldiers from different origins - Ethiopians, Russians and Druse.
